Where to find professional camcorder under $1000?

-I make movies, and I know the difference between camcorders, and professional camcorders. But I am young, and have trouble saving up over 1000. Anybody know where to find an at least semi professional video camera that IS NOT USED?The difference between consumer and professional camcorders today is mostly one of marketing. In general, the cheaper the camera, the more likely it is to be an essentially consumer camera, and vice versa. "Pro" cameras sometimes have a slightly different feature set from that of consumer cameras, they may have different ergonomics, etc., but the distinction between consumer and pro today is a continuum, not a bright line.

So spend your money on what you can afford, and stop worrying about whether it is "professional" or "consumer" gear. Nobody will know the difference when they see the finished product.
Why the aversion to used???

You have a good start, you appear to have researched the benefits of a pro-camera. You also recognize the limits of your budget. Great thinking, so far. But then you cripple yourself by insisting on new! This will force a compromise on the camera. There are a couple ways to go: Get a DSLR designed to shoot still photos, with a fairly small battery, and both a mirror and a shutter that needs to be electronically held open in order to shoot video. Yes, they CAN capture pretty good quality but there is a host of handicaps these cameras have. The other way to go is to pick the best format for video, in a consumer camera, which is the MiniDv based HDV which start right at $1000.

As the longtime owner of 2 Canon GL-2s (one of which I got used off of e-bay) I strongly recommend you re-think the used market. I have seen many people get cameras like the Canon GL or XL series for a single event or trip. I have seen many people over-estimate their desire to make quality video and walk out of a camera store with way more camera that they can use or care to take the time to understand. The GL is a $2700 camera, the XL is about a $4000 camera. Be patient and watch the used market and you can find the XL for under $1000 and the GL for about $800. Ask questions, talk to the owner if you can. It never hurts to pay a repair center a few bucks to go over a new-to-you used camera.

The triple CCD, MiniDv cameras record a higher data rate than the best consumer HD camcorders, and can be up-converted to produce a better picture than native HD.

I've purchased several cameras, lenses, flashes and other items off of Craigslist and eBay and have yet to be sorry. In the purchase of my GL and my 5D alone I have saved over $3000!

Don't compromise on the camera specks, don't over-extend your budget. Just research used items until you are comfortable with a purchase.
Hi, Great question.

The best semi professional camera for around $900 is the new Panasonic HDC-TM900.

It's very good in low light, great image quality overall - especially in high quality mode.

The TM900 has good manual controls and excellent image stabilization.

It also has 3 chips, good battery life and a good zoom.

It gives you all the features you need and more that you'll grow into. It's an awesome camera.

As a young filmmaker you're going to really like it and do great work!
Check into the Canon T2i, T3i,60D, or 7D, all of those are Semi-pro and record at 1080P 60FPS (I own the T2i myself and a couple lenses for it and it takes some really Awesome pictures and video. you probably won't get the 7D or T3i for much if any under $1,000.00 but you can get them brand new on ebay for around the price you are looking for. the only other recommendation if you are looking for a good actual camcorder for under $1,000 is the Sony HDR-PJ30V and it has a projector built into the back of the LCD so you can instantly review on a nice white wall if you want to with that one also. if you could go more than $1,000.00 then my ONLY recomendation is the Canon HF G10 HD that one has LOTS of features, most of which lean more toward the professional side of video recording.

Hope this helps

Look at the rebel line from canon, its a Digital SLR but some of them record at 1080 and under $1000.

I know a few people who use them for recording movies.

Transfering video from Digital Camcorder to Computer ?

-how do I transfer the video content from my Sony Digital Camcorder to a PC or Mac (I have both)... what type of cable do I need ?

on the ports on the camcorder there is:

- S Video

- Audio/Video

- LANC/Digital I/O

- DV IN/OUTSony Digital Camcorder needs their unique and special adapter and cable to transfer that not matched with any other digital devices, and u didn't say what the explicit model it is. So the best way to solve this problem for u is go to the nearby sony stores and council the salesmen and buy a matched cable.

Besides, there are still some problems about playing those camcorder videos with different players or devices. In my case, I often use aiseesoft Total Video Converter to change the camcorder videos to any other devices, and their transfer tools can provide easiest way to manage your media files among different digital devices.

Hope this could help u !

DVD-R compatibility problem?

-So I have a canon DC210 camcorder. It records on a dvd-r disk. However, I can't get my computer to recognize those files and therefore can't import the files onto the computer. Is there anyway to do so and also change them to MP4 Format? Thanks!MINIDVD

If you have a mini dvd camcorder鈥?

You will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files (I downloaded http://www.squared5.com file converter free) and import them into your editing program.

Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Usually you would import your videos and drop them in to the timeline, add transitions, menus, music, etc.

Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.
Aunsoft Video Converter supports a lot of video and audio formats. It can convert TiVo to MPEG for you, making it easy for you to burn the output MPEG file to DVD with burning software. Then you can enjoy recorded TV shows anytime you want. It converts MKV, MTS, M2TS, TOD, MOD, TS, FLV, MXF to MP4, WMV for you to play different videos on portable devices like iPad, iPhone 4, Zune, PSP, XboX 360, Apple TV, WD TV, Nexus One, HTC Android Phones, HTC Legend, HTC EVO 4G, Motorola Droid X, Droid 2. And it can even let you convert the popular Flip Video/Flip HD video from Flip Mino, Flip Ultra, Flip MinoHD, Flip Ultra HD, Flip SlideHD pocket camcorders with high quality.

How do I get the new driver for my Insignia camera?

-When I bought my camera I installed the driver that came on the CD. But that was months ago. Now when I plug it into my computer it says it can't recognize the camera because there's a driver that needs to be installed. It still says the old one is installed though. I checked the computer files to see if there was something in there that could help the problem but it came up empty. Where or how would I find/install the new driver so I can get back to uploading videos.

Thank You.

HOW DO I BURN VIDEO SONGS ONTO A DVD RW DISC SOTHAT THEY PLAY IN MY SONY MEX DV 1000 CAR PLAYER?

-Hi, I know Sony MEX-DV1000 CAR DVD player, it just support Audio CD/MP3/WMA/Standard Video DVD playback, so if you want to burn video songs onto a DVD RW disc so that can be played well in this sony car dvd player, you need to use a right software to convert your video songs to Standard Video DVD format then burn onto a DVD RW disc, and I used RZ DVD Creator to do that, it can convert any videos to Standard video dvd format and burn to any dvd disc(DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), easy to use, insert a DVD RW disc into your computer dvd burner drive, run RZ DVD Creator, select the dvd burner drive as the target folder, drag and drop the video songs into the software, then press the START button, you will get a right Standard video dvd, and you can play the burned Standard video dvd well in your sony mex dv 1000 car player, I always use it to burn videos to DVD to play well on my sony car dvd player, so I think it will help you alot, you could yahoo or google search and download RZ DVD Creator, hope these infos could help you.If you wanna make a DVD that will work on a standard DVD player, you will need a DVD burning tool to do this. Just copy the movie to a DVD disc, it will actually not read by DVD players.

The best and most reliable DVD burning tool that I've ever used is a tool called DVD Creator. It's able to burn all kinds of videos to DVD disc. After that, you can view the DVD on DVD player. It also lets you edit videos and create DVD menus. Easy to use and professional.

You should really give it a try. You may check out at:

Good quality video/picture cameras? Under 100?

-Well i was going to buy a HD Flip video camera, just for videos. But i decided i should get a camera that could take not only video, but pictures too. So im looking for a good quality camera, under 100$. Im looking for one that is maybe a touch screen? black, just a good beautiful clean camera! The under $100.00 is the tallest part of that order, there are plenty good quality cameras out there that will do what you are wanting in a camera, unfortunately ones with the kind of functionality you are looking for are mostly all over $100.00 for that functionaliy and a really good camera you need to be looking to spend between $150.00 -$300.00 there are a LOT of cameras in that price range that will easily do what you are looking for.

How to convert normal video to HD?

-Well, if you want to convert the no-HD video to HD, I should tell you, No, that's impossible. You cannot convert normal video to HD. Normal video doesn't have as much information in the image as HD, so if you try to expand the image to HD size, it will just get larger and blurrier. You need an HD camera to record true high-definition video.

HD isn't the same as aspect ratio. Traditional video has an aspect ratio of 4:3, whereas HD usually has an aspect ratio of 16:9, but these are not mandatory. You can have high definition at 4:3, and you can have low definition at 16:9.

If you change a 4:3 video to 16:9, either the image will be distorted horizontally, or it will have black bars on either side (pillarboxing). If you change a 16:9 video to 4:3, either it will be distorted horizontally, or it will have black bars on the top and bottom (letterboxing).

Anyway, most video editing programs let you convert between standard definition and high definition (subject to the limitations given above), and between 16:9 and 4:3.
Whats a normal video? what resolution is it in? Unless you crop the video you are going to end up with either a distorted video or bars on the top bottom, or left and right. what is the original video from , that can make a huge difference, quality is everything. just a simple video converter is not going to do it, the result is at best going to be bad. STD video resolution is fine as long as you keep it like that but once you start to enlarge it, everything starts to fall apart.

The quickest way to destroy the quality is to start to convert the video, people convert video to edit it, then another conversion to do something else then they upload it to youtube or put it onto DVD then convert it again, so the video has gone through numerous conversion before its actually watched.

If the video is perfect, no out of focus scenes, quality is very high then you may get away with it but I can assure you it will not be as good as the original. A video ( we don't know what resolution it is in at the moment) has so many lines, to create the HD effect it has to add lines (basically the software guesses) any imperfections will be multiplied, (both ways).

At the end of the day if you don't mind loosing some quality in the conversion ( defeats the object) then go for it. It does not matter what you do you CANNOT improve the quality of the original, you may be able to tweak it a little, but nothing that is going to give you HD quality from a STD def camera.

Sorry

RR
you can convert it to HD 720P easy enough but you need to know a VGA quality or even good AVI video converted to MP4 HD 720P is going to lose a lot of quality or be tiled really badly when you view it. the only ones i have seen converted like that and didn't lose a lot of the quality are AVI 640X480 videos and even some of them the quality is lost depending on the camera.
hi,first I wanto to know waht is the normal video? If you do not have a clear definition, I suggest using video converting software. You can try tipard video converter. It supports a lot of normal formats such as

MPG, MPEG, MPEG 2, VOB, DAT, MP4, M4V, TS, RM, RMVB, WMV, ASF. Its output formats includes HD H.264, HD AVI, HD MPG, HD TS, HD WMV, HD MPEG 4. I think it can satisfy your need . You could use its free trial first.
Hey , hey , doubt, i do not think it's such a difficult thing since so many powerful video converters come out. You could just search what u want , and you could find a lot of , and most of them could give you a HD format after covnersion. so look for it !
Convert/Render it to an MP4 file.

Is there software to find audio that was lost , when trying to record from an hd camcorder?

-Hello i recorded this event the other day i took maybe 18 videos (so while i did get the gist of the event )but 3 videos i took the external mic was not in all the way and i could not hear any audio.

but this camera also has a internal mic that it records to at the same time i had the mixer set to record 3/4 of the external mic and 1/4 the internal.

HD mino flip cam not working?

-It has been working perfectly fine until two days ago, I figured it was out of charge so I plugged it into my wall usb to charge, a few hours later, still not working. I then decided to charge it on my laptop to find that when I plugged it in, it didn't even appear on my laptop, like it wasn't plugged in, however it does the flashing light thing as if it is charging. A few hours later, once again, it wasn't switching on or even being detected on any computer I tried.

I have tried resetting it, however this hasn't worked. I pressed the reset button then tried to switch it on. Nothing happened. Either I'm not resetting it right, or my camera has gone on strike somehow.

Anyone know how it can be fixed? Thankyou

Can I somehow hook a mic up to my Sony Handycam HDR-CX100?

-I can't find a microphone jack on this camera. There are two outlets, a DC in and an A/V out. Is there any way I Could use those? I have a boom mic and i need some way to hook it up to this camera. Could I buy an adaptor? I like to make short films, and this is the first time with me using a boom mic. Please tell me there is some way to hook it up.If your camcorder does not have a Mic Jack, you cannot hook a Microphone to it.

You will need to use an external recorder to capture the audio from your boom mic and mix it in post on NLE.

To give you an Idea on what to use, visit my site. On it you will find A Boss digital recorder. This model can record audio for 9 hours straight, on multiple tracks and play the tracks back all at the same time. Great for a Musician. But maybe you do not need that type of recorder. There are many Digital Audio Recorders on the market, just go find one that will work for you.

A mixer might be an option for you as well, this allows multiple microphones and many other sound sources to be hooked up to it, very useful indeed.

http://www.asimplelife.ca/boss.html

Here is a useful tip. If you go this route, always remember to do a clapper board move in front of the camera near the Microphone. Doing a clap in this instance will work.

Another tip. Your local Music store, the one that sells Drum Kits, Guitars and many other Musical instruments might have a rental plan on all I talked about above, microphones mixers and much more, go talk to them.

Transfer videos back to camera?

-I recently got back from a trip and I have ton's of videos from it. I copied all the videos onto my camera. I started to watch them and I found a few videos that were only a couple seconds long so I thought that I should delete them off my camera so it would give me more room on my memory card. My camera was still attached via usb so I went to the folder that had the videos and put my mouse over the one I wanted to delete and right clicked and hit delete. I didnt realize that all the videos were still selected so I ended up deleting all the videos off my camera. Luckily I copied them to my computer before so is there anyway I can put them back on my camera? I tried copying and pasting but it didnt work. I have a Canon Power Shot SX110IS

How to mute right audio channel with video editor?

-Shot some videos that seem to have loud distorted audio feedback but only on the right channel. Ayone know of a video editor that includes a sound mixer or something? Videos are Mov format and the camera is a kodak zx3 playsport. Thanksif you have a better quality video editor, like sony Vegas movie or adobe premiere, you can adjust audio levels separately for right/left channels. simply turn down the right channel where needed. What you could is, open your NLE, put the mentioned file on your time line. Lock the audio section down, leave the video part unlocked. Delete the entire video portion, leaving audio intact. Make a file . MP3 file or the likes. Take that file you just created and run it through audicity and after working on the file, save file.

In your NLE, open original source file and put on timeline. Mute audio on that flick. Insert your audio file under the video. Done.

Can someone give me a list of video camera lenses and what they do in detail? ?

Can a digital camera's lens be damaged if you record a video driectly from a computer screen?

I can't finalize my mini-DVD?

-I have a Canon DC330, and I'm using DVD-RW discs. I need to finalize the disc I filmed on because it's the only way I can get the videos onto my computer (Finalizing the disc, burning it, and then converting the files). However, it won't let me finalize the disc. I have no idea why. Any ideas on how to get it to let me?I have heard that some camera's do not require finalizing of rewritable discs. Have you tried using the disc without finalizing it? What does your manual say concerning rewritable desks?

How can I burn a video from Sony Vegas directly to a common DVD (playable on a dvd player)?

-As I know, you should use Sony Vegas to render the created video as a normal video file, then need to use a right software to convert the video file to video dvd format and burn onto a dvd disc, so that can be playable on a dvd player, because most dvd players only recognize video dvd format well, and Sony Vegas can't directly burn video DVD. Once render finished, you could follow me to use RZ DVD Creator to burn video dvd, it can convert any formats video files to video dvd format and burn to any dvd disc(DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), such as convert the Sony Vegas rendered video files to video dvd format then burn to a DVD, easy to use, insert a DVD disc into your computer dvd burner drive, run RZ DVD Creator, select the dvd burner drive as the target folder, drag and drop the Sony Vegas rendered video files into the software, then press the START button, you will get a right video dvd, and you can play the burned video dvd well on your dvd player, you could yahoo or google search and download RZ DVD Creator, hope these infos could help you too.If you wanna make a DVD that will work on a DVD player, you will need a DVD burning tool to do this. What are ALL of the skeleton creek video passwords?

-Hi Edward:

Looks like you are the victim of Y!A's "auto category suggestion" gremlin. Because you have "video" in your Question, it suggested this Category ("Camcorders") in place of "Books & Authors" or "Video & Online Games".

Not being a Skeleton Creek book saga & interactive website afficionado, I can't directly help you with passwords, so be sure to read the book series carefully (all the password hints are there) and check out the Official Website: http://enterskeletoncreek.com/

Next time you post a Y!A Question, be sure to check that it goes into a correct (or "better") Category.

hope this helps,

When i put my SD card into my PC, it's telling me I can't upload the pictures or videos.?

-When I put the SD card back into my camera, I can see all the pictures and videos! It's driving me crazy. It's never done this before.the other answerer is correct, try that (the lock switch)

if not that, then the data on the card is encrypted(cannot be read by the computer)

if its encrypted, only the computer from with the data was saved on the card can ''decrypt'' it (im not sure if that's even a word :P ) but you get the idea don't you? meaning removing the encryption :)

so put the card back in the Computer you saved the data from and remove the encryption off the card by right clicking the card in ''my computer''>>then properties>>then uncheck encryption

Hope i helped xD
It might be locked, try taking it out and moving the little switch to unlock it.

Does the flip camcorder allow you to download music to it?

-No. It's a video camera. Not a music player.

Unless your intention is to set music to your videos, then no. The simple editor built into it won't let you import music. Use a video editor on your computer such as iMovie, Windows Movie Maker, Kdenlive, etc.

What is a good camera/camcorder for recording videos?

-I am looking for something inexpensive, with a decent recording time and quality. I don't have a lot of experience with cameras so I don't really know what all the things mean, but I want something that will record for several minutes in a decent video quality. Any recommendations?Consumer level HD camcorders have 3 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording consumer level HD camcorder, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes 鈥?four different times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.

With a MiniDV tape camcorder, record 60 or 90 minutes ( camcorder settings), 90 seconds or less to change a tape and record for 60 or 90 more and repeat till you run out of tapes.

You can get a Canon ZR960 for $250. It is a MiniDV tape camcorder, has a Mic jack. You need a firewire (IEEE1394) card ($25 to 30) for the computer and a firewire cable (less than 10) to be able to transfer video to your computer. To say this is not HD, think about this. It would cost in excess of $3500 to get a HD camcorder that could equal the video Quality of a $250 Canon MiniDV tape camcorder.

Then use your editing programs import feature to move the video files to a local hard drive. Using this Camcorder, after transfer, there will be no conversion of files necessary to run the footage through your video editor software and save to file and upload to youtube. Have Fun

How to get digital video camera to not record so grainy? The camera can record in 1080i?

-I have a Sony HVR-A1U I bought for shooting interview style clips. I have attempted to play with the settings and am utterly clueless on how to get the picture quality to be comparable to my Sony DCR-200. I was wondering if I had to buy an additional lighting accessory because it is extremely hard to get any clip without grain and the only way I find to take the grainy view off is to lower the exposure.

Flip ultra HD repair / repair parts?

-Flip Ultra HD Cameras can be repaired or parts replaced without having to send the unit back to the manufacturer to get them fixed. The easiest way to do this is to go on ebay and bid on damaged cameras with the working components you need for your camera to work. then if you aren't affraid swap them out yourself. Cisco will charge $80 just to look at the camera and then whatever parts are on top of the initial $80.00 examination fee. i have video posted on my youtube channel of just such repairs if you are interested http://www.youtube.com/daddytech

Leave Windows Movie Maker out of the equation. They sell much better video editors from $79 to $129, that have more transitions, motion transitions and titles, import options and export options WMM does not have.

-MPEG-4 is not compatible with Windows Movie Maker. What do I do to edit an MPEG-4 video if I'm on a Windows machine. (Not too technical.)You can convert the mpeg-4 video to wmv video at first, and then you can edit the wmv video with windows machine. If you don't know how to convert video, I think this step by step direction would help you a lot

You can install ffdshow - that should enable Windows Movie Maker to edit your video.

You can convert the video to a supported format - that'll almost certainly degrade the video.

You can buy an editor that supports MPEG-4.

Whats difference between sony vg10e and sony vg10?

-whats difference between sony vg10e and sony vg10??The E at the end means that it's built for a European market, and European TV standards (i.e., PAL, 50 Hz). Without the E, it's North American standards (i.e., NTSC, 60 Hz). It's important if you plan to connect the camera directly to a television set, otherwise it doesn't matter much.

Whats a good semi pro dslr camera ?

-i need one ASAP my daughter is starting classes and she wants a semi pro camera for under $580.

please help me !Is it for video or Stills as you asked the question in Video section then I suppose its for video. if that the case then a DSLR is not going to hack it as a video camera, its not designed for it, sure they take video but the actual quality is not that good, compared to a camcorder of around the same amount. the best thing to do is to talk to her tutors and see what they recommend, make, type, as they will probably have to edit the video during the lessons/classes it would be a god idea to have something that will work with the equipment.

Either Video or stills camera for a semi pro, (prosumer) you are looking at a lot more than that, so maybe a look at the second hand market, will give you better options.

RR
Any of the name branded DSLRs should do.

My kids try to get the latest and greatest in the name of "for class". I know better and require they show me the instructors recommendations and/or specs.

New DSLRs are over 18 mp and shoot video too, likely an overkill. Even a good used original DSLR like the 6mp Canon Rebel (No alphabet soup in the name) will likely exceed the instructors requirements and enlarge well past most students ability to print.

New, older models are often a real bargain.

6 -8 mp should work and will be $200-$300.

10 -12 will be a little more.

14-18 and you can find new, older models in the $600 range.

How to get good sound quality without external microphone?

-I'm starting a web series I want to no how to get good sound quality without an external microphone. What's the best method for me to get clear sound quality . Thnx So much. God Bless You !!!! :)Great question.

Record your video in a quiet space, a room where you can control the sound, where you can close doors and windows.

Generally you want the camera / microphone as close to the subject as possible.

Take care not to touch the camera during recording as that sound often gets transferred to the camera microphone. A tripod is helpful.

Lastly try to be aware of background sounds: a squeaky chair, shifting papers on a desk, a refrigerator, an air conditioner. Keep these background sounds to a minimum (unless they are intended part of your video) .

Good luck with your web series.Camcorder microphones, any Camcorder, the best audio quality can be had at a 4 foot distance from the camcorder. Beyond that, audio quality starts to diminish. They noisier the environment, the steeper the fall off.
Keep the person at a good distance from the mic, speak clearly, don't be too close or too far away from it.

Getting a used D3100 DSLR , worth it?

-Is it worth it to get a used DSLR D3100?? Or is it a bad idea?It depends on a few things

-Condition of it

-Price you're paying, you might be better off

getting a different DSLR that's a hundred dollars

more than the used price.

-Are lenses included?

If the price is good compared to a new one, it's in good

condition, and you're getting lenses then it sounds good to me.Look at the outside appearance---it will give you clues to if it works...If it's scratched and dinged up pretty bad then you shouldn't buy it!-----Also ask whoever is selling it to charge the battery so you can make sure it turns on----And if everything seems to be fine then it is a good purchase

What are great cameras to shoot Movie Videos with? with a $500 -$1000 budget?

-I'm looking to shoot music videos for local artist, however i also need a camera that records good audio or can at least adapt to be able to connect a good quality Mic to it because i will shoot short films as well. My budget is $500-$1000 thanks!I believe that sony and panasonic make the best camcorders out there. If you need a good camcorder, choose either of them.

Here is one recommendation I am giving you: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/74鈥?/a>

The Sony HDR CX360V

It offers full 1080p hd recording, with built-in flash memory and expandable via SDHC and Memory Stick Duo cards. It has stereo mics on the front, but it does offer a shoe mount on top for accessories such as a shotgun mic, if you don't want to use the 5.1 surround mics built-in to the camera. There is a mic and headphone jack so this is supported.

If you want a shotgun mic, I'd recommend either the Rode VideoMic or the Azden SMX-10. The Rode mic is widely used, and it works very well at picking up voices. The Azden is great for lower-budget users and works well too.

Rode link: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/36鈥?/a>

How do I recover a video from my Kodak S101 Webcam?

-I Recorded A Fairly Long Video Last Night On My Kodak S101 Webcam. I Was Going To Upload It This Morning And It's Gone. I worked really hard on this video....But, It only saves to the Kodak Control Center Videos Library. Is there anyway I can recover this video?

How do I make a video look old and worn using Final Cut Pro?

-I would like to take a new video and use FCP to make it look like it came out of the silent film era. Thanks for any help.Hi Nick:

There are a lot of FCP plug-ins that can achieve this effect (the most-subtle is the "FilmLook" software that HBO made famous before camcorders got better).

The other trick to achieve the "silent era" look is over-cranking (slight speed up) the playback of existing footage or slight under-cranking the camera frame-rate during the shoot. The reason for this is that most silent films were shot around 18FPS, and when sound-sync films were standardized the faster rate of 24FPS caused older films to run faster (that "Keystone Cops" look).

In lieu of an actual plug-in or effect, you could lay down a separate video-only track (or an alpha-channel track) that has merely the dust-specks and scratches to add to the clean footage, and then subtract the chroma or add a sepia effect with some vignetting at the corners to invoke an "aged" look.

I'll poke around the 'net for some effects/plug-in links and post an update.

hope this helps,

--Dennis C.

聽I'm sure there's another way to do it, but here's one way:

When exporting, go to File > Export... > Using Quicktime Conversion... > Options... > Filter... > Special Effects > Film Noise > fix it up to how you want it > OK

-I have a Sony Hybrid Carl Zeiss DCR-DVD610

40x Optional Zoom.

What all is required of a camcorder to tape a video?

-I am seriously interested in a Sony DCR-HC96, but since its so expensive, I would like to know, what does it require to have me tape a video? How much are the costs of each? Is anything reuseable or are they like batteries and arnt? Thanks! Most, but not all consumer level camcorder come with rechargeable batteries. This camcorder uses MiniDv tapes. Get some extra batteries, buy them online, they are cheaper there. MiniDV Tapes, there might be price advantages on the internet, I use a MiniDV tape camcorder, have about 45 of them, I reuse them all the time. They last for about 8 or 9 reuses, then the recording media on the tape gets too bad for video taking.

You can get a Canon ZR960 for $250, same MiniDV tape type camcorder

What will the videos uplOaded by a camcorder look like?

What is best way to convert old vhs home movies to dvd?

I recommend this HD dvd burner for you: http://www.hd-video-software.com/hd-dvd-鈥?/a> This DVD burner could help you burn most video file formats including vhs home movies to dvd discs, folders or ISO images. I have used this for a long time and it works quuuuuite well.

Have fun buddy.ANALOG

*If you have an analog (VHS) camcorder鈥?or VHS-c...

You need an analog converter, either internal card or external such as the dazzle. It's very easy to use and come with good software. You would hook your analog VHS camera or VCR to the analog converter, the dazzle and then hook the dazzle to your PC. The dazzle cost around 85.00 , but worth the money if you have a lot of VHS to tapes to convert.

Anytime you convert analog to digital, you will lose quality, but loss of quality is better than losing all those old memories.

**Please Note There is no 8mm or Hi 8 to VHS Adapter that currently exists. This type of VHS Adapter only exists with VHS-C tape

They also make VHS to DVD recorders and they work fine for home movies that you don't want to edit. They do not work on copyrighted DVD's.
Hi, convert old home movies from vhs to dvd, that's easy, I know a good way can do that well, you can click below link for a step by step guide about how to convert old home movies from VHS tape to DVD, I followed this guide and success, hope this guide can help you too.

Dvd-rw question/ camcorder?

-My wife has an old sony camcorder. We just wanted to watch a recent recording from it so my wife connected it to our tv put the disc in the camcorder and it prompted her to format the disc. So she did. And then it asked her to finalize it. She did that too. It does not look like anyhting is onn the disc now..what would you suggest? We really need what was on it.As you have found out, formatting deletes everything. You might be able to recover using..

Download the program http://www.recuva.com? These are instructions for a memory card, but you might be able to use some of it.

You must not take anymore pictures on your card. You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader.Put the card in the card reader, open the recuva program, the welcome to the recuva wizard will open, click on next. next box, choose 'pictures', click on next, next box choose 'on my media card' click next. See the words 'enable deep scan' click on start. Wait, for it to do it's magic.

You need to use a card reader either one already in your computer (some have one, some don't). Or buy an external USB card reader. They are around 10.00 and can be found at walmart, bestbuy, frys, probably target.

The problem with built in card readers is that they will usually only read up to a 2G card.

I was not able to recover photos by hooking the camera up to the pc with the usb cord, it just won't work.

This is the important part. Choose the pics you want to recover, then choose recover, a box comes up asking where you want to save to. Choose documents/my pictures or wherever you want to save your pictures too. The pictures ONLY save to your pc and not the card.

Format your card in the camera after you have retrieved your photos and backed them up to an external source.

How to I import my videos from my video camera to Mac book Pro?

-I have a Sony Handy cam DCR-SR45, and my Mac book pro is the latest model. My main question is how do I know which firewire cable to use? Some say 4 pin to 4 pin, 6 pin to 4 pin, etc. I'm not really sure about which one I should get...

How do you capture video in iMovie '11?

-I have this 1GB of video on my iPhone and instead of transferring the 1GB file over to my iMovie directly, which is time-consuming, I'd like to have my iPhone and Macbook Pro connected, and open iMovie, brings up the Import dialogue from camera, and I want to play the video and only capture certain parts of the video that I have in my iPhone instead of that everything about 1GB file.

Is there a function on iMovie to do that? Say the video is a 20 minute video and I only needed the first 10 minutes from the video on my iPhone, which is connected to my Macbook Pro and on iMovie '11, so to do that, I don't have to transfer all 1GB to iMovie and instead I want to play it on iMovie and only pick out the parts I want.

Can this be done?

Can I develop film from a disposable camera that expired 10 years ago?

-I found a Time Capsule that me and my family did on new years of 2000 there was a disposable camera placed inside but it reads "Develop before 02/2001. I can imagine they wont look the best, but I really want to see whats on it.It can be processed, but there's no telling what the results will look like. Take it to a specialist camera shop and explain your requirements - it'll cost more and there's still no guarantee, but that's probably your best chance.

Whats the best cam/video recorder ?

-Hi guys,I wanted to know which is the best video camera for having good quality, decent price, and great at editing because I like to make movies sometimes but i have the I pod nano which records but I need something that pauses and and zooms thanks anyways.this is a very relative question, if it is something that you will just be using for fun and nothing important i would advise the flip. it has good quality and and it zooms and it is small. but if you are shooting home movies or videotaping a graduation or something important i would go with something a little more bulky but with better quality and attachments like something by samsong. on the other hand it for are using it for sports like rock climbing or biking or paintball, i would advice the gopro because it is perfect for that situation. but ive never head of a video camera that pauses. usually you just stop the video then start a new one when you wana start recoding again then piece it together laterConsumer level HD camcorders have 3 problems. 3) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes - all times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders.

No video camcorder can pause, if it did, it ruin the mechanism inside the camcorder. It has a start and stop button, use it. Get a video editing program to put the clips back together.
"but I need something that pauses"

Camcorders don't pause - you edit the video using a video editor. What sort of budget are you thinking of?

My Samsung Handycam HD is blurry! Please Help!!?

-I got the Samsung Handycam for christmas 2010. So May 19 2011, I videotape my brother throwing a water baloon at his face. But heres the catch, i was far away when i recorded it, so it didnt get wet. i felt it, it was dry. So about... 1 hour later i turn on my camera to work on a youtube video, but IT WAS ALL BLURRY! WTF!?! I tried to put it on auto focus, still blurry. i wiped the lens, still blurry. and when i start the camera it shows the start up screen for 1 minute, then it shows me my blurry view. when i zoom in half way it unblurs. but not really as clear. please help! i dont know what i can do for you, but ill work it out!

Why when i just leave my camcorder recording until the battery goes can i not playback, i just get a ? boxed?

-Hi Colin, and welcome to Yahoo!Answers:

Most likely, you have a digital camcorder that is tape-less, so when recording it is just like a computer creating a digital "file" (with the audio & video). So, at the end when your batteries "die", the electronics that would transfer the temporary "buffer" with the last part of your sequence to the storage device (flash-memory, Hard Drive, etc.) can't properly save it, and you end up with a corrupted video file (if one at all!).

hope this helps,

--Dennis C.

聽the file is still being added to when the power is cut or battery runs out. Im not a software analyst but that file has not been finalised so becomes corrupted. you may still be able to watch the files on another player but still corrupted files
Why the heck would you let it run until battery rundown? It probably never got the chance to record the "control" information needed to be able to playback anything.

How download video ,films free?

-Unless its a non royalty video then you will have to pay for it, the above answer is getting the videos from pirate copies, ( I suspect it will be deleted as it is against YA terms and conditions). but if you are talking about films from the cinema you will have to pay for them, try lovefilms.co.uk (no its not a porn site) they have a system where you can have the video streamed. I dint think they are very expensive. I think you are in the UK because you said films rather than movies,

Flash Memory Camcorder under $600 for traveling?

-Preferred Canon, but I'm willing to try other brands

Memory- FLASH Memory only. NO HDD, CD, TAPE

FULL HD

And give me all the tips you can about buying camcorders.

Thanks.Yes, definitely.

Canon's a good choice (as are Sony & Panasonic)

You have a good sense of what you want and don't as well as budget. So you're already half way there.

Canon Vixia model are very good. Canon VIXIA HF M300 is a very good choice for what you're looking for. It's less than $600

BTW you say no HDD. Some of the new camera have flash AND an internal HDD. This can come in handy when all your cards are full.

Have great travels!

How to capture from Sony HVR-HD1000E to Adobe Premiere CS4 using firewire lead/cable x4 - usb?

-I set my camera on play/edit mode, turn on Adobe Premiere, click on capture and all I get is a black window saying capturing device is offline.

How do I turn it online & how to capture using a cable?

Step-by-step suggestions please!

ThanksThere is no firewire-USB cable/adapter/converter that will allow you to do what you want (get the video from the miniDV tape into the computer for editing).

The computer must have a firewire port (also called IEEE1394, DV or i.LINK) to connect to the camcorder's DV port for importing. That Adobe Premiere CS4 is not recognizing the connection you are trying to use is normal behavior. So far, all is working properly.

Too bad you did not tell us which computer you are using - we have no way to know if adding a firewire port is possible if the computer does not already have one.

The other option is to connect the AV port of the HDR-HD1000 to an "analog/digital converter" which can connect to the computer's USB port. Video quality will not be high definition (going through the analog step) but will get the video into the computer. Elgato makes a decent one. Roxio, Hauppauge and many others, too.

How do I convert old tapes from my old camcorder to dvd format?

How many minutes of video can a sandisk sdhc 8gb class 2 card hold?

-First of all, the only thing that counts is the 8gb capacity. The fact that it is class 2, or sd, hc, etc. makes no difference.

Second of all, the answer completely depends on the video resolution, quality, and bitrate.

Crummy low-res video, maybe you could fit an hour or more. Great HD video, maybe only a few minutes or less.

If you updated your question with more information about what kind of video it is, and what kind of device it's used with, you will get a better answer. My Kodak SDHC class 6 100x speed card holds 3-4 hours of video, with nothing else on it. (I usually record in 720p 60 fps format). When recording in 1080p 30 fps, it hold about 30 minutes less. When recording with 720p 30 fps, it holds about 30 minutes more video. When using WVGA format (probably 480p?) it holds a lot more.

Hope this helps!

Camcorder problems, need help please!?

-i have a samsung NTSC model# SCD103 and ive recorded on it before but now, of course, im leaving for a vacation tomorrow morning and it's not working. When i replay the tapes to watch them everything is fine, the camera itself is fine but when i go to record or take a picture now, the screen has vertical lines from side to side. the sound works and when i play what i just recored, it shows the lines on my record. so, i have no idea whats going on. any idea? i'd really like to take my camera with me.

My camcorder can't play a full miniDV tape, am I still able to import the video using my firewire?

-So I have a camcorder that I recorded something on my miniDV tape. I forgot it at school, so I'm using my other camcorder. Whenever I try to play the tape on my camcorder this bluescreen comes up and it won't show me the video and the sound. Am I still able to get that video onto my computer with a firewire even if it didn't play on my camcorder? Does anyone know how to fix this thankss

How can i make high speed videos better?

-I just got a casio high sped camera. it had three modes of high speed recording' 210, 420, and 1000 frames per second. As the frames per second gets higher, the quality goes way down and the amount of light required to record goes way up. Any advice on that?

and also, any advice in general? I film only 2 things really; my golf swing and some cool airsoft stuff.

thanks a lot!as You have said as you get faster "light required to record goes way up" increase the light. Only record in high light areas, or invest in lighting. or slow the frame rate down. If you keep the camera, if not then get one that has more manual functions, so you can adjust it to fit the scene conditions.

How can i transfer a mini dv tape from a camcorder to a macbook pro? (computer)?

-I have the firewire cable and the camcorder (Canon XHA1) connected to my laptop. Im really new to how to do this so bare with me. Once i plugged in the wire to my laptop, nothing popped up. Im trying to make it so I can put the tape to like imovie maker. You need to use iMovie to capture the video, in iMovie: File->Import from Camera. Before you do this, choose iMovie->Preferences, and in the 'Video' section, enable 'Import HD video as: Full - Original Size'. Capturing might take some time because iMovie automatically converts the HDV video into a format that is suitable for editing in iMovie.

The captured video will be stored in the folder 'iMovie Events' which is located within the 'Movies' folder. If the video is in HD then the file format is going to be .mov (QuickTime Movie) with video encoded using the Apple Intermediate Codec.

(based iMovie '09 / '11, but should work almost the same in iMovie '08)

Will VHS Camcorders ever become collectible?

-Only in the sense of curiosities. It is unlikely that anyone will ever collect them for the purpose of using them, since VHS is inferior to just about everything else.look at Beta to get your answer, or the even earlier EIAJ half inch reel home video recorders. all home analog systems make inferior quality pictures. these were made with lots of rubber belts/parts that fail from just sitting around. some models used impossible to find batteries. and most people lost the original manuals, shipping boxes and accessories that would be required to qualify as a collectible. no one would buy a Barbie without original box for collecting.

I need an HD Camcorder? Know of any good ones?

-Hello all. I am searching for an HD Camcorder to film beauty videos. I already have a rather good camera to take pictures with, but the battery is crap when you're trying to film a video with it. So now I am looking to invest in an HD Camcorder. I need something easy to use and the only thing that is absolutely necessary is auto focus. If you have any recommendations, I need them because I have absolutely no clue what's good and what's not out on the market. I'm hoping to stay within the price range of 100-500 dollars, hoping to stay more near 300-400 if possible. A remote control that comes with it would also be a plus.

Thanks so much. Also if you know anywhere that I could buy a few soft boxes for lighting, I'm searching for those as wellI dont know how much the Bloggie Touch costs but i won one of them and they are soooo awesome! Plus you can tape videos for up to 4 hours and you can take pictures too

Cameras with good sound quality?

-I really want a camera with good sound quality, and picture quality. My parents agreed to get me one for Christmas, but I have to absolutely be sure about what I want. I was looking into Canon, Nikon, and some sony one's too, but I still cdan't decide! My parents also set a price range of $750 (not including tax) (will be the only thing I get), so something in there. If it goes a little bit over I won't mind paying. Anyways. I heard that external mics are really good, so do those brands have an external mic connection? Or if there are any other good brands please tell me. Thanks!I'm not sure if you mean a digital still camera that can shoot video or a camcorder. Not the same thing. Both have advantages and disadvantages for recording stills and video.

There are some good resources that will give you the straight scoop on cameras. Learning DSLR video has some really great stuff on the Canon line and tips on building skills. http://www.learningdslrvideo.com/

On the still camera side there is Steve's Digicams section on which camera to buy http://www.steves-digicams.com/best-came鈥?/a>

I also like DP Preview http://www.dpreview.com to evaluate a still camera

If you mean camcorders then there are models that have really good sound.

The Zoom Q3HD is designed for musicians who need good audio quality and video. Reporters also like it as well. The Olympus LS-20M is a recorder that has HD video. Not much is known about it but it is a possibility.

On standard camcorders you are looking for models that have an external mic jack. Not many of them do but the Canon Vixia camcorder line does have an ext. mic jack and headphone so that you can monitor the sound.

To dive into camcorder resources I'd look at http://reviews.cnet.com/camcorders or

What camcorders are compatible to the Sony HVL-HIRL IR NightShot and video light?

Canon 550D for HD video? (Zoom & Focus?)?

-I am looking at getting a 550D for HD video but cant work out how i would use the manual zoom or focus while filming?!? Manually, i know. But that would be rubbish and jerky?well now you know the primary difference between a digital still camera lens and a camcorder. with a still camera, you set the zoom position, focus, adjust exposure before you press the shutter. the lens is not built to make changes while shooting like a camcorder does. so it sounds like a camcorder may be more satisfactory for your style of shooting video.

I have a mini JVC mini dv and I got an important recording but the viewing is distorted can anything be done?

-I played it back after ages and the image is distorted on the right side you can see pixels.

I have rewinded to the start and forwarded to the end but no luck..

Can anything be done to fix the imagethis kind of problem is not caused by dirty heads. it is most certainly the result of edge damage from the tape getting creased at one time or another. the tape is ruined. it would be a good idea to have a tech inspect your camcorder to be sure it has not caused the problem and might ruin yet more tapes.

How to charge my samsung camcorder?

-I have a Samsung digital camcorder with dead batteries and wanting to charge it. The information says that it is 33x optical zoom, digital 1200X, Digital Cam SC-DC164 NTSC. (Not sure if you need all that but that's what is says on it.) You can either use a memory card or a disc to store stuff on. Anyways, I have a cord for it but cannot seem to find where to plug it in. Yes, I know it is an old camera, but if you know anythign please let me know. I looked on the samsung website but I don't think they sell it anymore. Thanks! It is always appreciated when you give full details about a camcorder. Makes finding the answer much easier. I have to say that when I looked at the Samsung Q&A site they never did answer anybody's questions.

I found the manual for your camcorder.

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/suppor鈥?/a>

On page 23 is the instructions on how to connect the power cord to the camcorder. You have to have the cable and the battery pack in order to charge. According to the instructions you have to open the LCD cover and then on the body of the camcorder there is another door or flap, when you open that there is the DC in connector to charge the camcorder.

If your batteries are totally dead you can get replacements at Amazon for under $20You need a charger. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Replacemen鈥?/a>
