Audio for independent movie making?

-I'm looking to buy a non-professional video camera to start working on a short film. One of my main needs is for an external microphone to be able to plug into it. However I'm not sure what term to be looking for... Like audio input? Microphone jack? What exactly is it called?





Also any camcorder suggestions and reviews would be greatly appreciated, thanks. :)"Microphone input" is usually the term you're looking for. Unless you're moving into the prosumer range in which case the term "XLR" will turn up.
