-i need one ASAP my daughter is starting classes and she wants a semi pro camera for under $580.
please help me !Is it for video or Stills as you asked the question in Video section then I suppose its for video. if that the case then a DSLR is not going to hack it as a video camera, its not designed for it, sure they take video but the actual quality is not that good, compared to a camcorder of around the same amount. the best thing to do is to talk to her tutors and see what they recommend, make, type, as they will probably have to edit the video during the lessons/classes it would be a god idea to have something that will work with the equipment.
Either Video or stills camera for a semi pro, (prosumer) you are looking at a lot more than that, so maybe a look at the second hand market, will give you better options.
RR
Any of the name branded DSLRs should do.
My kids try to get the latest and greatest in the name of "for class". I know better and require they show me the instructors recommendations and/or specs.
New DSLRs are over 18 mp and shoot video too, likely an overkill. Even a good used original DSLR like the 6mp Canon Rebel (No alphabet soup in the name) will likely exceed the instructors requirements and enlarge well past most students ability to print.
New, older models are often a real bargain.
6 -8 mp should work and will be $200-$300.
10 -12 will be a little more.
14-18 and you can find new, older models in the $600 range.
