My camcorder can't play a full miniDV tape, am I still able to import the video using my firewire?

-So I have a camcorder that I recorded something on my miniDV tape. I forgot it at school, so I'm using my other camcorder. Whenever I try to play the tape on my camcorder this bluescreen comes up and it won't show me the video and the sound. Am I still able to get that video onto my computer with a firewire even if it didn't play on my camcorder? Does anyone know how to fix this thankss
